After searching for the perfect fitness powder, this one by Bluebonnet is the winner! I take it with just about 8 oz. of room temperature water, and it still tastes fantastic! Taste: 5/5 Stars! OK, for those who've never tried whey protein - be warned, it's going to taste something like water-down milk. Bluebonnet's whey protein is no different - except it actually tastes good!!! I don't know how they do it, but it's a pleasant flavor that I look forward to! I don't squirm and squeamish whiling downing this. I just want to add that the Vanilla flavor smells incredible! I'm looking for baking recipes to use this whey powder in because I know it'll smell fantastic! Texture: 5/5 Stars! Powder is so silky and refined, it melts in even cooler water when just stirred with a spoon! Efficacy: 5/5 Stars! Since using this powder for pre and post workouts, my muscles feel more toned. I'm really focusing on ab and glute exercises now, and my abdomen does feel a lot more defined, and I'm seeing more "lift" and rounder shape in my buttocks :) Price: 5/5 Stars! Sorry, don't even think about buying this at your local health-food stores! Yikes! For a real treat, I shake it up in my Mason jar filled half-way with almond milk and generous sprinklings of ground cinnamon powder! Yum! Tastes like horchata!
I researched and looked at the reviews of different brands of creatine on the store but I was overwhelmed with so many different brands that contain many different ingredients in addition to the creatine. The prices of those designer creatine were also much more expensive and since I am on a budget I wanted the cheapest product but of high quality, "more bang for my buck". I've used creatine over the years and it is a great supplement that improves your strength and muscle size if used correctly. Don't be fooled by the designer creatine that contains other ingredients that may not benefit you in your bodybuilding journey. Don't get me wrong. If it has an ingredient that you think will benefit you then by all means buy it, but if it's just creatine your looking for to increase your strength then this is the product for you. It's just creatine and nothing else. Take it the way it's suggested and you will see gains. I started with a loading phase for one week with 2 scoops (5mgs) in the morning and then 2 scoops (5mgs) after my workout. (I do my workouts in the evenings) I then kept a maintaining dose of 2 scoops (5mgs) each day after a workout or every morning if I wasn't working out that day. You don't have to do it this way but I researched the optimal way of taking creatine and starting with a loading phase was the consensus from most of the websites I looked at. After the 1st week of loading I started to feel some increase in strength and after the second week my strength went up substantially. I've been on it for about 6 weeks now and have increased my deadlift by about 15lbs, bench about 10 lbs, and squats about 10 lbs (my knees are a little messed up so I have to be careful with the weight.) For me, this was a significant improvement. If this doesn't seem like a significant amount of improvement to you, then I'm sorry to tell you that there is no "magic pill" that will instantly turn you into a bodybuilding god overnight. (There are but they are illegal) I will continue to take it after each workout and I'm sure I will see even more improvements in the coming months. It is recommended that you cycle creatine although some of the research I did said you don't have to. I guess if you feel the effects wearing off and no more strength gains, take a break from using it and start again after a few days. Also, keep in mind that a good diet and plenty of rest is also key to making gains so take that into consideration if you feel this product doesn't work for you. I'd used creatine in the past but had not seen gains but it was because of a poor diet and lack of rest. Remember, you don't have to break the bank for good supplements. I don't fall for all the gimmicky junk that's out there that is also usually expensive. Follow the KIS method: Keep It Simple!
The ingredients are fine but I hate the taste. Yuk. I've been using vanilla whey from Life Extension for my fat and veggie smoothies, and it tastes good. This French Vanilla Bluebonnet has an artificial taste which I find awful. I'd rather have no sweetness at all, so I'll buy non flavored instead. I will add that I have trained myself to not like things very sweet, so I don't usually eat any artificial sweeteners. If you are used to them and don't mind the health effects, you may like this. Update: Although I still don't like the taste by itself, I actually have been re-buying it often because with it I've finally found a smoothie that my husband likes to drink. The stevia in this really helps it taste like a milkshake. (Coconut milk, this product in chocolate, cocoa, flax, frozen organic berries, spinach.) Somehow this product tastes better in the shake than just adding your own stevia.
That's disappointing to hear! It's always a bummer when a gift doesn't live up to expectations.
